We all know what is meant when architecture is described as 'modern'. The brutal truth is, 'modern' architecture is a long way out of date. Sharp lines, cubist, modernist structures of concrete and steel, austere buildings where all ornamentation has been purposefully removed. Picasso and Braque mastered cubism 100 years ago, but painting has moved on, it's time architecture did too.
Ecology and climate change brings new priorities to construction, natural materials and natural form lend themselves to the reintroduction of ornamentation. Your house, office or campus should make you feel good. Inspire you and generally improve well being. Nothing does that better than bathed in natural light, followed closely by good ornamentation.
